Checkov Nearly Checked Off
August 09, 2007

Paramount is in negotiations with Russian-born actor Anton Yelchin to play Pavel Checkov in the upcoming 11th Star Trek flick, directed by J.J. Abrams. So far the cast includes Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy (both as Mr. Spock, see "Spock Returns!"). No names have been announced as yet for Kirk, Bones, Uhura, Sulu, Scotty or the requisite villain.

If anyone watches 'Heroes,' apparently the guy who plays Sylar will be playing Muppet Baby Spock. Good casting, imho.

Who COULD do Kirk? Some beefcakey, hamfisted young actor...
