Guild Policy and Code of Conduct

Post by Tzuul »

The Torrencians Guild Policy

Our Philosophy
The Torrencians are a group of gamers who enjoy playing Guild Wars. Our main priority is to have fun. Our members participate in all forms of GW gaming, including PVE (player versus environment) and PVP (player versus player). As a guild, we like to get together at least once a week and participate in HA or GVG (guild versus guild) battles. Although we are typically ranked within the top 1000 guilds, our focus is not on achieving the top ladder rankings, therefore it is perfectly fine for new and inexperienced members to participate in our HA or GVG battles.

Requirements
  • Most of our membership are in their mid-20s to mid-30s, and we are most comfortable with those of a similar maturity level. The only consistent exception is for children of our adult members.
  • Members should have a mature and relaxed outlook on this game. This means that whether we win or lose in a mission or PVP, we don’t flame or accuse others. While it can be frustrating to lose in GvG or HA, we should keep it in perspective, make it a learning experience and try and improve our own skills for the next time.
  • Members should agree to abide by our Code of Conduct policy outlined below.
  • And finally, members should play Guild Wars! We are open to those who play on a daily basis, as well as those who take a much more casual (and balanced) approach to the game, playing on a more sporadic basis!
Code of Conduct
All current and prospective members of The Torrencians must agree to and follow our Code of Conduct Policy.
  • 1. Avoid flaming, flaunting, and/or inappropriate bragging in PvP and GvG. If in doubt a simple “gg” is adequate even if you don’t think the other team played particularly well. Telling the other team they were “owned” or “pwned” is inappropriate.
  • 2. Avoid using inappropriate, objectionable language and/or excessive leet-speak on chat channels.
  • 3. Avoid spamming repeating statements on any chat channels, especially global ones like ‘All’ and ‘Trade’.
  • 4. Abide by the EULA agreement. This primarily means that members will not use cheats, bots, key-logging, or unfair glitches. Members will not purchase in-game gold via real-life money, e.g. E-bay.
  • 5. All guild members are expected to behave in an ethical fashion in game and on the forums. This means that members should always treat other players fairly and honestly, as well as honor any agreed upon exchanges, for example Droknar-run for gold.
  • 6. Guild members who are inactive for more than one month without posting a notice on the forums may be demoted or kicked from guild. This will be handled on a case by case basis, and is only likely if the guild requires room for more active membership.
Failure to follow the Code of Conduct will be grounds for kicking. Your in-game actions reflect upon both yourself and our guild!

Suggestions to participate in PVP
To participate in player versus player battles, it is strongly advised that you have the Ventrilo client and that you are able to communicate via voice chat during battle. Also, you should either have a level 20 RPG character with maximum level armor and the full 200 attribute points, or a PVP character with sufficient unlocks to run standard PvP builds.
