Recruitment Process

Post by Tzuul »

Last update: 6/4/2007

The Torrencians are currently recruiting players interested in GvG ~2 times per week.

Goals and Information about The Torrencians
The purpose of our recruitment process is to maintain a small but active membership and provide an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Our guild favors mature and relaxed people who play this game to have fun. We are fairly active in GvG and typically rank in the top 1000 on the ladder. We occasionally organize HA runs as well. Although we play competitively, whether we win or lose, we always try to keep the game in perspective. The Torrencians do not use a maximum or minimum age as a pre-requisite for membership, but we will maintain an expectation that guild members of any age can and will act in an adult and mature manner. The majority of our active members are in their 20s-30s, and we have a preference for maintaining this age-range/maturity level.

At present, all Tor guild members play on American servers and English is our predominant language. While there may be guild members online at virtually any time, the majority tend to be online during evening hours (7 PM to 1 AM Eastern).

In order to apply for Tor membership, please register on our forums and post the following information in the recruitment section:
  • — Name or preferred nickname:
    — Age:
    — Primary Character Name (the one you'd like to be listed under):
    — Other Character Names:
    — What are you looking for in a guild:
    — Preferred game play (PvP, PvE, or both):
    — Preferred character professions:
    — Preferred play time:
    — What time zone you live in:
    — If you are accepted into our guild, do you agree to abide by our guild’s code of conduct: (yes/no)
    — If you join our guild, do we have your permission to post your nickname and character name on the guild roster: (yes/no)
    — How did you hear about The Torrencians, do you already know someone in our guild:
    — Other comments: (anything you’d like to add)
Expectations for candidates
  • — Please download the Ventrilo (vent) client and plan to participate in guild activities through voice chat, especially for arenas and GvG. Officers will relay our Vent server info before PvP events.
    — Please participate on our forums, so that current members can get to know you. It’s sometimes not as easy to link up in game, so forum participation is a great way to communicate with fellow guild members and allies.
    — Applicants should make the effort to sign up for scheduled Tor events.
    — All applicants will need to quest and/or chat with at least two of our officers on more than one occasion prior to consideration for acceptance.
Schedule
  • — The trialing process does not have a particularly firm timeline. It will last as long as it takes for the applicant to get to know Tor and for Tor members to get to know the applicant.
    — After the completion of the trialing process, we will schedule a vote, if the applicant is still interested in joining.
    — Eligible voters are all current members of Tor; the voting will occur over a 2 day period.
    — Approval and invitation to the guild requires YES votes from 67% or more of the voters and also a YES vote from at least one officer or the guild leader. A NO vote from the guild leader will override any other results.
Potential reasons for non-acceptance
  • — Requests free runs, upgrades, gold, etc. We help each other with runs and items a great deal, but we are not interested in free-loaders.
    — Obsession about ladder ranking, personal rank, fame, gold accumulation, and/or prestige armor. While it’s certainly great to have these kinds of goals, continually flashing the Tiger rank emote or bragging about Fissure Armor isn’t likely to endear you to others.
    — Excessive spamming, leet-speak, objectionable or offensive language, whining.
    — Excessive scribbling on the compass. Quite frankly, it’s annoying.
    — An immediate request to become an officer. Officer positions in Tor will be filled as the need arises and will only be given to people who have demonstrated maturity, responsibility, and a track record in the guild through participation in guild events.
    — Rage-quitting. Ditching fellow party members in the middle of a battle or mission just because you’re not happy about the situation is immature and irresponsible.
Alliance Guilds
The Torrencians are part of the Servants of Fortuna Alliance. Therefore membership in [Tor] also becomes membership in the alliance. We are part of a wonderful alliance that includes guilds and members across the globe, and who participate in all aspects of Guild Wars. Being in the alliance provides a great resource pool of knowledgeable players, activities, and friendship; and we encourage our members to participate in alliance activities. Links to each of the guilds can be found here: Alliance Guilds.

We understand that joining a guild is a two-way street, and that both sides need to feel comfortable about each other. Please feel free to post or PM one of the Torrencian Officers listed below if you have any questions!

Guild Leader: Kaitrin - Kaitrin Torrencia
