Assorted Strangeness

On this page, you will find both solid truth and sheer speculation. Here, many things both strange and wondrous may float up from the depths of the Guild Wars Universe.

Lyssa's Ice Cave

By Clasko

Found in the Northeastern corner of Mineral Springs, this cave is home to many things, including a level 10 ice golem, a level 24 Mountain Troll, and several Ice imps rumored to drop Icy Dragon Swords. As you enter, you hear a strange pulsing sound that emenates from two huge, wrecked storm beacons, similar to those found in the Northern Shiverpeaks. They cast a bluish light which pulses with the sound. Also found is a statue of Lyssa, framed in light cast through a hole in the ceiling. Beyond the cave is an ambush of Azure Shadows and an Ice beast, resembling in every respect besides name the Eidolon in the Iron Mines of Moladune Mission. It also drops a Spectral Essence, which you can give to the Seer found behind the cave. The Seer will infuse any un-infused armor you are wearing. The bridge behind the Seer is actually part of the Iron Mines of Moladune mission. Curiously, though it is full day outside, looking through the hole in the ceiling reveals it to be nighttime, and past the cave, it is overcast.

The Two Tombs

Found in Majesty's Rest in Kryta, these buildings' purpose is not known. It is rumored that the second building is where the Scepter of Orr was discovered, but this is unconfirmed. A powerful Bone Dragon known as Rotscale has taken up residence in the area, along with an entourage of other Rotting Dragons. Rotscale also consistently drops a unique item known as a Rotwing Recurve Bow.

The Lone Lantern

I feel so cheesy doing these names. : ^) Anyways, this lamp hangs over a large spiderweb in the Sage Lands of the Maguuma Jungle, and appears slightly organic. No one knows how or why it got there.

The Deserted Temple

By Clasko

Deep in the depths of the Underworld, past the Ice Wastes where the Smite Crawlers roam, is a huge temple to an unknown deity. It is one of the few areas in the Underworld that is devoid of enemies, though it may be involved in some sort of quest. The stairway looks vaguely like it was constructed by Mursaat, but this is highly unlikely. It simply resembles the stairway in the Riverside Province mission. Notice the light emanating from behind the door. A very similar door also appears behind the Statue of Balthazaar in Hero's Ascent.

Tigers?

Most Ascended Rangers probably have the skill Tiger's Fury. So where are the tigers in the game?

(Answered: Tigers are native to Cantha, and can be either orange or white.)

Horses?

Anyone going through Kryta is likely to run into a few undead Necromancers known as Necrid Horsemen. But where do the horses come from?

Crafting Chaos

By Clasko

Many rare material crafters throughout Tyria can craft a Clay Brick from 1 Brick of Mud and 1 Pile of Glittering Dust. However, Clay Bricks and Bricks of Mud are not dropped by any monsters, nor can they be salvaged from any known item. Not only that, but Rubies and Sapphires are both rare crafting materials only obtained as drops from monsters, but they have no use as of now.
